What we believe . . .

We believe the Bible - Old and New Testament!  We believe that the Word of God speaks to us in its lessons and history and that we can apply those lessons to everyday life.  We also believe that many "Christians" are divided because of man-made rules and regulations that are not contained in God's Word.  Therefore, our inspiration and guidance comes straight from the Bible and how God works through His Holy Spirit today.

As a church family, we search for the answers to life's toughest questions together!

Our Statement of Beliefs, according to our bylaws:

a. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

b. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three (3) persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

c. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the conception of His body by the Holy Spirit and His birth by the Virgin Mary, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

d. Salvation:  We believe that salvation is wholly of grace, but conditioned solely on repentance toward God and acceptance of Christ by faith.  Salvation comes from the final sacrifice of Jesus Christ as an atonement for sin.  One must receive the Good News in order to be saved.

e. The Holy Spirit:  We believe in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, that He personally dwells within and guides those who are true believers, and empowers them for service, giving unto them various gifts and producing within their lives the fruits of Christian Character.

f.   Sanctification:  Sanctification is that process of holiness (purity) which occurs after salvation.  One cannot begin sanctification before salvation, since salvation is not based upon works, but is given as a free gift.  This is a never-ending process that may only be fulfilled after physical death.

g.   Resurrection and Immortality:  We believe that at the return of the Lord, the bodies of the righteous dead will be raised and the living believers will be changed, so that both will have literal, spiritual, and immortal bodies like unto Christ's own glorious body.

h.   Man - his creation:  We believe that man was created by God and not by any accidental or spontaneous, or self-propagated occurrence, action, method or process; that he was created in the image and likeness of God, possessing personality and holiness, and that he is a free moral agent possessing the power of choice, and that the purpose of his creation was to glorify God.

Man's fall:  We believe the Biblical teaching about the fall of man and that because of his fall, death passed upon all men and sin entered into the world.  Therefore, condemnation rests upon each person who has reached the age and development with which comes accountability before God, and he is forever lost, except he be born again.

i. Church:  We believe in the oneness of the church of Christ, composed of all Spirit-regenerated believers, and that these believers, both living and dead, shall be caught up together at His second coming.

j.  Ordinances:  We believe the Christian Ordinances are outward rites, appointed by Christ, to be administered in each church, not as a means to salvation, but as visible signs of the facts and realities of salvation.

k.  Baptism:  We believe in water Baptism, and that it is to be administered after repentance.  The Baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs without water and will empower the believer with spiritual gifts to fulfill God's purposes.

l. The Lord's Supper:  The Lord's Supper is an ordinance, instituted by Christ, for observation by His followers until He returns.  It consists in partaking of the consecrated emblems of bread and wine, and symbolizes the death and suffering of Christ for the remission of our sins and our continual dependence upon Him for our sustenance.  The Lord's table should be open to all believers who are in right relationship with God, regardless of denomination.  Each person partaking in the Lord's Supper must examine his or her relationship to others and to God.

m. Marriage:  We believe that marriage is a sacred institution ordained of God and that it is the mutual union of one man and one woman and morally binding so long as both shall live, and that therefore it cannot be dissolved by a decree of civil tribunal, except on evidence that one party is guilty of adultery.

We understand that in this present day, there are many marriages that fail.  Therefore, we strongly encourage all couples to seek the guidance of God and believe that the support of a local congregation is vital to the strength of the relationship.  Divorced persons shall be encouraged to seek forgiveness.  They shall not be denied the right of marriage by the LSCC.  However, the pastor or acting minister will use his discretion in all marriages and may deny any couple the right of marriage, based upon biblical principle.

We believe that since all of God's children have sinned and fallen short of His glory, there is forgiveness to all.  All couples shall receive counseling before the wedding ceremony and are encouraged to seek the pastor's counseling if problems arise during the marriage.  God strongly opposes inappropriate divorces, therefore the church shall provide support to couples in need.

Our style . . .

We're pretty laid-back. We're not into legalism and won't tell you that you're going to hell for wearing blue-jeans to church!  Our services contain a lot of the old favorite songs that everyone knows, as well as some newer songs.  We have a lot of talent and often have special music.  Our church likes to work together and always has a great time doing projects with missions, working around the church building, monthly dinners, etc.  There's a place for YOU at Living Springs!

Everyone at Living Springs considers this a "family"!  It doesn't matter if it's your first Sunday, or you've been here a while, it simply feels like home.  We would love to have you join us and be a part of our family!
